Lark on the Strand
A tune I heard last year at the Irish Arts Week but never knew the name. This version comes via Larry Mallette via Frank Claudy, I think.
Set Files
We talked this weekend about putting together pdf files with just one set of tunes to make it easier for those who are still reading from music. Here’s my first pass, please forward any request for specific sets to me and I’ll do my best to put them together.
Note that you can print more than one page per sheet on most printers, so if you have good eyesight you can still get one full set on a single sheet.
Last Week’s Session
This coming Sunday (07-24-05) is another slow session. Last time we worked on Ger the Rigger/Back of the Haggard/Bill Sullivans – as a set. I would like to go over it again, slow, one time through each tune, then up to speed. The next set I’d like to work on is – Tripping Up the Stairs/Paddy Clancy’s/Tar Road to Sligo (you may notice that the second set is taken from the tunebook.pdf’s .
I’m having to iron out some issues concerning creating the PDFs for these two sets, but if you’re reading this here, go pick up the tunebook abc archive and you can mix and match with the best of them.
I’m also looking for any requests of tunes we should work on as well as future areas of interest (general session ettiquette, tune changes, etc.
Look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday at 2 p.m.
Gerald
Session Tunebook
I’ve moved a few things around, current the session tunebook pdf file can be found here. There is also a fixed link to the pdf file on the top of the page.
If you want the abc source, here is the archive.
From now on I’ll add a new article when a new version is released. As always please email me any corrections or suggested tunes/sets.
The Slow Session
The slow session is held at the Starbucks off 290 at 43rd from 2p-4p every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Here is a nice map to use.
