Eddie's Fancy

I had heard good things about Firefly when it first aired, but was too busy at the time to watch it and then it was canceled after only a few episodes. What a great show, possibly could have been one of the top five sci-fi shows of all time had it been given a chance. Smart, sexy and funny as hell.

Serenity was the followup movie directed by Josh Whedon for Universal, not Fox which screwed up the Firefly release. A good sci-fi flick, probably more enjoyable if you’ve watched the show, which may explain it’s mediocre box office results. Which is too bad, while it’s merely good if you haven’t seen the series, it’s great if you had. Whedon did a good job of typing up a good number (but not all) of the loose ends from the show.

A fascinating book that I’ve been meaning to read for sometime. I was lucky enough to stumble across a copy at Half-Price Books while looking for a Thyroid book for my wife.

I never quite realized how wide-spread this pandemic was, or how oppressive the government was during the first world war. The brief history of modern medicine and how the disease spread was compelling. My only complaint is that it seemed to drag a bit towards the end.
